Fairway woods, hybrids or a utility iron?

Slots 02 to 04 of the fourteen are usually the hardest to settle. Answer seven questions and this tool puts the long-club roles in order for your game, says which ones it rules out, and tells you what to test on the course. The rules are fixed, so the same answers always return the same order.

Read first:These are role suggestions, not measurements. Carry distances and stamped lofts vary between manufacturers and shafts, no brand or model is recommended anywhere on this site, and no purchase is guaranteed to improve your scoring. Treat the order below as a starting point for testing or a fitting.

01 · How would you describe your game?

This sets how much forgiveness we build into the top of the bag.

02 · How far do you typically carry your driver?

Your normal shot, not your best ever one.

03 · How far do you typically carry your 7 iron?

If you are unsure, choose “I don’t know” and we will use your driver carry instead.

04 · What is the longest iron you hit confidently?

This mostly decides where your iron set starts.

05 · What flight do you want at the top of the bag?

The top of the bag means driver, woods, hybrids and utility irons.

06 · What is your common miss with long clubs?

Pick the one you see most often.

07 · What conditions do you usually play in?

Turf and wind change how playable long clubs are.
