Privacy statement

• There are no user accounts, logins or profiles.
• There is no newsletter, no payment and no purchase.
• There is no server-side database of users or of bag recommendations.
• There is no analytics, advertising, tracking pixel or profiling at launch.

The ten bag builder questions and the resulting fourteen club roles are processed locally by your own browser. The recommendation logic runs on your device. Your answers are saved in your browser’s local storage under the versioned key buildmy14.questionnaire.v2 so that the flow survives a page refresh and you can return to your bag record later.

These values are not intentionally transmitted to the operator, and nothing you answer is sent to us for storage or review.

Use Start again in the bag builder or on your bag record: this clears the stored answers and results for this site. Clearing site data or local storage for buildmy14.com in your browser settings has the same effect. If the stored data is from an older version or fails validation, it is discarded automatically and the questionnaire starts empty.

If you write to hello@buildmy14.com, your email address, message and any details you choose to include are processed for one purpose: to read, answer and administer your enquiry.

Depending on what you write about, the appropriate legal basis is normally the legitimate interest in handling correspondence sent to us, or the steps taken at your request in the context of an enquiry. Where a specific processing activity genuinely requires your consent, we will ask for it separately; consent is not the only possible basis, and we do not claim otherwise.

Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with the matter and to keep a reasonable record of it. Legal obligations, or a dispute, may require a longer period where applicable. No fixed retention figure is quoted here because none would be accurate.

The site is served by a hosting provider on the operator’s behalf. Like almost all web infrastructure, hosting and security systems may record technical data such as IP address, request time, requested URL, and browser and device information, for security, abuse prevention and reliability. This happens at the infrastructure level and is separate from the application, which stores nothing about you on a server.

The recommendation is produced by a fixed, published set of deterministic rules — the same answers always give the same fourteen roles. It is a suggestion about golf equipment to test. It does not produce legal effects, and it does not otherwise significantly affect you within the meaning of the GDPR provisions on automated decision-making. No language model and no profiling are involved.

Where the operator processes personal data about you — in practice, mainly email correspondence — you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability where applicable, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise a right, write to hello@buildmy14.com or use the postal address on the contact page. Note that answers stored only in your own browser are not accessible to the operator, so a request about them can only be answered by explaining how to delete them yourself.
